As economic climate gets gloomier 'more women are escaping overseas' 03 September 08
Female drivers who are struggling with the rising cost of motoring may be among the increasing number of women heading to glamorous locations overseas for hen parties.
Ben Rodger, the marketing manager of Release Travel, said women on hen parties are "looking to explore newer, more exotic destinations and escape their current financial worries".
He added that ladies who are going to get married will have a hen do regardless of the economic climate.
However, figures from a Morgan Stanley survey from 2004 suggest females on hen parties are more restrained than their male counterparts.
Men on stag nights were found to spend £112 on food and drink, compared with the £62 spent by women.
According to the Halifax, 8.6 million Brits took single-sex holidays in 2007 and 25 per cent of these were stag and hen trips.
Of those questioned, 26 per cent of men had been on a single-sex holiday during the previous year, in comparison to 19 per cent of women.
