Brits in Europe 'may need time to adjust'
Women motorists taking their cars to the continent this summer may want to give themselves a few days to adjust to driving on the opposite side of the road, if the comments of one publishing group are anything to go by.
Backpackers Ultimate Guides suggested people may need to be particularly vigilant behind the wheel when they first arrive in a foreign country.
It explained things like getting onto a roundabout and left hand turns can be quite daunting for Brits in Europe, as they are used to being on the other side of the road.
The group advised motorists to prepare for driving abroad prior to leaving the UK.
Managing editor Tim Uden stated: "Research the destination before travelling to make yourself aware of any local rules regarding parking and road tolls, as well as road rules and unfamiliar road signs."
Female motorists may also want to check that their specialist insurance for women drivers provides comprehensive cover when overseas, as some policies downgrade to third party once a vehicle leaves British soil.
