Cash for bangers 'not popular with everyone'
Female motorists who are cynical about the scrappage scheme are not alone, according to a new poll.
The study by moneysupermarket.com has revealed some scepticism among British vehicle owners.
Of those questioned, 13 per cent said they thought they could get a better deal by selling privately and haggling over the cost of a new car.
This compares with five per cent who stated they intend to take part in the cash for bangers initiative.
Steve Sweeney, head of motor insurance at moneysupermarket.com, claimed the results showed Brits were split as to the benefits of the scrappage scheme.
However, he said those keen to take part should be quick.
"For motorists wanting to take advantage of the scheme I urge them not to waste any time - once the cash pot is dry the scheme will end," Mr Sweeney advised.
Meanwhile, the comparison website recently reported 19 per cent of drivers would consider lying to their insurance provider in order to cut costs.
