Citroen 'already offering cash for bangers'
Female motorists with old bangers that are on their last wheels may want to take advantage of a vehicle scrappage scheme being offered by Citroen.
The manufacturer explained drivers did not have to wait until next month to get cash for their ageing autos.
Drivers with vehicles registered before the end of 1999 will be able to trade them in for £2,000 if they order a new Citroen by April 30th.
The company claimed many of its vehicles were perfect for motorists keen to cut their carbon footprint, as it offers a wide selection of cars with carbon dioxide emissions of less than 120 g/km.
Commenting on the introduction of a scrappage scheme in yesterday's Budget, the manufacturer stated such a move would also help take older, highly polluting autos out of circulation.
However, managing director Xavier Duchemin pointed out: "Car buyers don't have to wait for the government, they can benefit from our £2,000 incentive right now."
Women drivers who cannot afford to trade in their vehicle even with a £2,000 incentive may find taking it for a service at a female-friendly garage can help keep it in good working order for a couple more years.
