FOXY Archive Clear clutter and save money?
Do you keep shoes and clothes in the boot of your car? Or what about your gym kit - does that get left in there too?
If the answer is yes, you're not alone. Recent research by the Department for Transport found that 23 per cent of us permanently keep these in the boot of the car - which could ultimately contribute to the amount of fuel we use.
This is because the heavier a car's load is, the harder it has to work to get you from A to B and the more fuel it needs to do so.
And as Tim Anderson, smarter driving expert from the Energy Saving Trust explained: "That adds to your fuel costs and it also increases the amount of carbon dioxide - CO2 - that your car emits."
Mr Anderson discussed the issue on behalf of a campaign called ACT ON CO2, which aims to help male and female drivers alike save money and reduce emissions.
So, you could find that clearing clutter from your car is beneficial to your wallet.
In fact, 73 per cent of people, once they learned that clutter could increase their fuel expenditure, said they would be more likely to keep their boot clean.
