Code of practice may benefit women drivers
Women drivers prefer garages that have signed the FOXY Promise© to say 'We strive to be a female friendly business and will never knowingly overcharge, patronise or sell our customers services they do not need or want.'
Women drivers may find the introduction of the Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair results in more female-friendly garages, it has been suggested.
Established in August 2008, the initiative is designed to help motorists identify responsible companies that will carry out car repairs in an honest and fair way.
Female drivers can use an online search tool to find the nearest garage that has signed up to the code.
If after visiting a business, customers have any concerns, they can ring a free helpline.
Garages that subscribe to the code agree to complete car servicing as promised, provide invoices that match quoted prices and have competent and conscientious staff on hand.
Chris Mason is the director of Motor Codes - the company responsible for administering the system.
He stated: "If any issues do arise at the time the work is carries out, the nominated customers service representative will try and resolve matters there and then."
Meanwhile, Motor Codes recently revealed it had agreed to become a sponsor for the Motor Trader Garage of the Year Awards, as it was keen to reward businesses that showed there commitment to excellent customer service.
