Credit crunch 'has led to a health crunch for female shoppers' 02 September 08
Women motorists who have been struggling to cope with the rising cost of fuel and car insurance may be among the 10.6 million Brits who are concerned their health is suffering as a result of the credit crunch.
A new survey by PruHealth has found 60 per cent of shoppers are finding it difficult to look after their general health and wellbeing in the current economic climate.
Of those questioned, 22 per cent said they could not afford to eat a diet as nutritionally balanced as they would like because of the rising cost of living.
A further 32 per cent said they felt that cost was a barrier to participating in exercise.
Commenting on the findings, Katie Roswell from PruHealth said: "The progression from credit to health crunch may worsen as people reduce outgoings by buying less fruit and vegetables and continue to believe that all exercise is expensive."
Last week, a study by online bank cahoot revealed 12.4 million people in the UK are reluctant to split with their partner at the moment for fear of being faced with increased bills, such as higher motor insurance premiums.
