Cutting out meat 'can save money'
28 August 08

Women drivers who are already paying more for petrol and car insurance are now faced with rising food costs.

However, female friendly celebrity chef and farmer Rachel Green says there are ways to save money at the supermarket.

She stated: "A top tip now in times like these, when things are expensive, is that you don’t always have to eat meat.

"There are great vegetarian options," she added.

Many people feel like they need to eat meat every day when "we actually don't", she said.

Ms Green came to fame as a result of her committed and passionate championing of British produce.

She has worked on a number of television series, including Yorkshire's Flying Cook, World on a Plate, Farm of Fussy Eaters and Kill It! Cook It! Eat It!.

This year's British Food Fortnight runs from September 20th to October 5th and it aims to increase awareness of the diversity and quality of home-grown, locally sourced produce from the UK.
