Women drivers who are looking for a new motor may be interested to hear that the Land Rover Discovery 3 has been voted Best Family 4x4 by the female friendly website Evecars.

All vehicles in the Car of the Year awards were rated on their comfort, practicality and space.

Commenting on the Land Rover Discovery 3, Alex Jenner-Fust, Evecars editor, said: "It's as happy helping you haul the whole family and their luggage to the top of a mountain and back as when you're chauffeuring six friends to the cinema in style."

She acknowledged prices starting from £29,950 were not cheap but she praised the Discovery for its comfort and its modern feel.

Meanwhile, Land Rover UK's managing director John Edwards said the vehicle had received acclaim from customers and the media around the world.

Elsewhere, a survey by Experian has revealed female motorists are more concerned about the environmental credentials of a new car than their male counterparts.
