This Halloween could prove to be a scary night for women drivers keen to avoid making a claim on their car insurance, the RAC Foundation has warned.

According to the motoring group, the fact the spooky festival falls on a Friday this year is bad news for people behind the wheel.

It stated the final day of the working week is the worst for road accidents in the UK.

The organisation pointed out, in 2007, 51,792 traffic collisions were reported on Fridays, some 4,000 more than on Wednesdays - the second most dangerous day.

During the evening rush hour tomorrow, the RAC Foundation stated trick or treaters are likely to be out in force - many of them dressed in black.

It advised motorists to be extra vigilant "as excited tweens and teens focus on their next sweetie fix, not road safety".

Meanwhile, the RAC Foundation warned last month texting while behind the wheel can impair driving skills more than being drunk or on drugs.
