Female motorists 'may regret ditching their breakdown cover'

By choosing a garage or dealership that has signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© women drivers can avoid being patronised, overcharged or mis-sold services at MOT, car servicing or vehicle repair times.

Women drivers who have ditched their breakdown cover in a bid to save money may find themselves stranded on Monday morning when they try to leave for work, it has been claimed.

According to the Environmental Transport Association (ETA), up to three million motorists could experience problems on January 5th 2009.

It explained male and female drivers who leave their cars standing about in freezing temperatures for days on end may struggle to start their engines.

However, it added this problem would be exacerbated for the millions of motorists who have given up their roadside assistance cover in order to cut costs.

The group stated such a move may turn out to be a false economy, with drivers having to shell out much more for an emergency mechanic to come out to conduct car repairs.

Commenting on the difficulties vehicle owners may experience, Andrew Davis, director of ETA, said: "It's not just people who can feel flat following the new year festivities.

"The sub-zero temperatures predicted for early January mean many car batteries will fail."

Meanwhile, ETA recently claimed that arguing on the road should be avoided, as it can lead to accidents.
