Female motorists with used cars 'are pre-Budget winners'
Women drivers with second-hand cars may find they benefit from measures set out in this week's pre-Budget report, it has been claimed.
TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk has welcomed chancellor Alistair Darling's announcement that he is to reduce proposed road tax increases for vehicles registered between 2001 and 2006.
Commenting on the move, editor Faye Sunderland said: "While we support the idea that car taxation should reflect vehicle emissions, the postponement of the VED increases will give temporary but much needed relief to ... car-dependant, lower income families."
Female motorists with used vehicles who are still keen to do their bit for the planet can reduce their carbon footprint by ensuring their cars are serviced on a regular basis and inflating their tyres to the pressure level recommended by the manufacturer, she added.
