Ford announces price rise plans
Women drivers who were planning to head down to their nearest Ford dealership in the coming weeks to replace their old banger may want to do so sooner rather than later.
The manufacturer has announced it is increasing its prices as a result of the weakness of the pound.
From the beginning of July, buyers will be looking at paying an average of four per cent extra for the company's cars.
Models like the Fiesta, Ka and Focus will go up in price by between about £600 and £700, while the cost of the S-Max and Galaxy is set to rise by £700 and £800 respectively.
Nigel Sharp, the group's managing director, said it had not been an easy decision.
"Raising prices in difficult times ... may seem counter-intuitive but, with so many of our costs priced in euros, there is no choice if we are to maintain a viable business," he explained.
Meanwhile, ladies who cannot afford a new motor may find booking an old auto in for regular car servicing at a female-friendly garage can keep it in peak condition for longer.
