Kia raises thousands for Comic Relief

Female motorists may be impressed to hear Kia dealerships from across the UK made £7,400 for Comic Relief by auctioning off some special cars last week.

The manufacturer explained it "tweaked, tuned and pimped" 15 part-exchange vehicles for the sale.

All of the cars were sold, including a Nissan 'Love Machine' and a Fiat 'Tiger' - which went for £1,700.

Paul Philpott, managing director of Kia, said he was proud of all the people who took part in the event.

He stated: "Red Nose Day is all about a positive change through the power of entertainment and our Kia dealers very much embraced this mission with the pimped part-ex event."

Meanwhile, Craig Purvey from British Car Auctions - which organised the sale - claimed the participants produced some "marvellous creations".

In other news that may sway women drivers looking to buy a new motor, Kia was recently named Carmaker of the Year by trade magazine AM.
