Female drivers looking for a suitable family car might want to check out the Mazda6, which has just won an award.

The vehicle was voted as the best family car at the Scottish Car of the Year event, voted for by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.

Quality, reliability and refinement were all highlighted as some of the Mazda6's best features, making it a potentially ideal car for women drivers who want a good quality car for the school run.

"The all-new Mazda6 continues to attract family buyers thanks to its people and luggage carrying abilities and very competitive CO2 emissions levels, ideal for family motoring needs," explained Mazda UK's managing director Jeremy Thomson.

There are 25 derivatives of the vehicle, including nine estates, ten diesels and four engine choices. The three millionth Mazda6 was produced in 2006.

It is priced from £15,110 on the road for the Mazda6 1.8-litre five-door S model.
