FOXY Archive Nearly half consider car sharing, says the AA
Nearly half of British drivers are thinking about car-sharing, new AA Insurance research has found.
Some 47 per cent said they were considering sharing lifts with a friend or co-worker, with fuel costs and the environment cited as two reasons why this might be an option soon.
And although it is often a great way to save time and money, AA Insurance highlighted a few tips regarding "social etiquette" when giving or catching a lift.
Lateness was described as the most annoying car-sharing issue, so it is important to be on time.
Being critical of your driver's road skills is also a no-no, as is putting your feet on the seat or dashboard.
Loud phone conversations and eating in the car were also mentioned as annoyances, so it's worth keeping these in check if you're sharing.
"Car sharing is something that we really believe in - not only is it a good way to reduce emissions and congestion on the road, but can also save on motoring costs," said AA president Edmund King.
Women drivers may find car sharing a good option, especially if they are travelling at night or in unfamiliar areas.
