New initiative may impress safety-conscious ladies
Young safety-conscious female drivers living in Northamptonshire may want to put their names down for a new initiative being run in the area.
CarKraft is a programme that tries to identify and tackle the most significant causes of road traffic accidents among novice motorists.
Set up by police and the county council, the scheme was run for the first time at Silverstone earlier this month and is due to be held again in July and October.
Participants are taken out on the road in a Twingo Renaultsport 133 with a police response officer, who looks at their skills and any areas of weakness.
Commenting on the initiative, PC David Lee said: "The assessment drives have a massive impact and are hugely beneficial to the young drivers who take part."
In order to get involved, motorists must be aged between 17 and 24 years old.
Ladies who do take part in the scheme may subsequently find it easier to secure the best deals on specialist insurance for women drivers.
