Women drivers who have bought private plates in order to personalise their car may agree that the way one Michael Jackson fan has paid tribute to his hero is ingenious.
On hearing about the death of his idol, Thomas Slater found a rather unusual way to demonstrate his respect for the star.
The student tracked down the registration MJ09 KOP online and snapped it up for £390.
He expressed delight at being able to find a number plate that combined the singer's initials, with the year of his death and the letters KOP to stand for King of Pop.
Damian Lawson, marketing manager with DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: "I take my hat off to Thomas's ingenuity.
"His quick thinking and clever use of available letters and numbers gifted him his personal tribute to Michael Jackson."
Meanwhile, female motorists who buy a personalised registration may be well advised to let their car insurance provider know as soon as possible.
