Peugeot 'leading the green race'
Women drivers looking for an environmentally-friendly model may find Peugeot offers plenty of choice.
The carmaker boasts 36 vehicles with CO2 emissions of less than 121 g/km and recent figures showed the company topped the European green auto sales chart in 2008.
Last year, one in every six models sold across the continent releasing less than 121 g/km of CO2 was a Peugeot.
In the UK, the best-selling vehicle offering emissions of less than 111 g/km was the 107.
The manufacturer explained it had made a concerted effort to minimise its impact on the environment.
Marketing director Chris Stein said: "We are delighted to be comprehensively leading the green race, with the benefit of lower running costs for our customers."
Cash-strapped female drivers looking to reduce the amount they spend may find eco-friendly models can help them save money at the pump.
In addition to this, low-emitting vehicles qualify for cheap road tax, with those releasing up to 100 g/km being exempt altogether.
