Planning ahead 'can save you cash'
Women drivers keen to cut the cost of vehicle ownership can make significant savings by changing their behaviour behind the wheel, the British School of Motoring (BSM) has claimed.
According to road safety consultant Robin Cummins there are a number of ways in which female motorists can adapt their driving technique and make savings at the pump.
As well as cutting costs, he pointed out there were other benefits too.
"If you are using less fuel then obviously not only are you saving money, you are also reducing the CO2 emissions as well," he explained.
Mr Cummins suggested motorists try to plan ahead so they can slow down gradually rather then jumping on the brake.
He also advised people try pulling up in the gear they are driving in as that can also save fuel.
Research carried out by BSM and the Energy Saving Trust recently revealed motorists in the UK could cut their costs at the pump by approximately £6 billion a year by adopting techniques like this.
