Police issue 30 tickets to motorists entering no-go zone
Male and female motorists in Rochdale may be more reluctant to enter restricted areas in their cars after a recent police campaign.
Officers in the town gave out more than 30 tickets to drivers entering the no-go zone at South Parade.
PC Daniel Shirazi from the Rochdale North Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "I hope that these measures will send out a message to all motorists that there are consequences for ignoring the restrictions."
Drivers caught committing the offence were issued with £30 fines.
Councillor William Hobhouse, chair of Rochdale Township, claimed the initiative sends out a clear message that people will not get away with breaking the law.
He added there would be an assessment to see how the police campaign had affected the behaviour of "irresponsible motorists".
