Prius 'gets sporty'
Female motorists keen to cut their carbon footprint may be interested to hear the next-generation Toyota Prius will be greener and more sporty than the current model, according to the manufacturer.
The carmaker said the vehicle has been a big success but it needs to shed its "fuddy-duddy" image.
Commenting on the revised version, Toyota GM managing director Miguel Fonseca stated CO2 emissions would be below 100 grams per kilometre (g/km).
He added: "We could have gone lower, but instead we have chosen to give the Prius better performance."
This month's Paris Motor Show also saw Toyota launch the new Avensis.
Again the manufacturer pointed out the green credentials of the vehicle, with carbon emissions starting at 134 g/km.
Despite the fact Toyota thinks the Prius needs something of a makeover, the eco-friendly car has still proved popular with a number of Hollywood celebrities, including Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio.
