Safety device may help women drivers avoid accidents

Women drivers prefer garages that have signed the FOXY Promise© to say 'We strive to be a female friendly business and will never knowingly overcharge, patronise or sell our customers services they do not need or want.'

Women drivers who can do without the hassle of searching for a female-friendly garage to get expensive car repairs carried out may be well-advised to make sure their next vehicle features the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), it has been suggested.

According to Bosch, the company behind the system, 56 per cent of all new models sold in the UK in the first six months of 2008 were fitted with the safety feature.

However, it pointed out this figure was much lower in the small car segment - where only 13 per cent of vehicles are equipped with the device.

Werner Struth from Bosch said ESP was an important feature for all models.

He stated: "Buyers should therefore be sure to ask for the safety system as an optional feature if it is not already on board as standard equipment."

Figures from Bosch revealed ESP can prevent 80 per cent of all skidding collisions.

Women motorists who are involved in an accident may find opting for a female-friendly garage means they will not be charged for unnecessary work.
