Survey reveals experiences of women car buyers
Almost half of all female drivers take a colleague or friend along for support when visiting a dealership to buy a car, new research has revealed.
The study by FOXY Lady Drivers found 47 per cent of women had felt the need to have another person with them when purchasing a vehicle.
Some 80 per of the female motoring club's members said they would return to the same dealership where they bought their last car.
However, one in four admitted they had felt patronised when purchasing a vehicle.
Steph Savill, director of FOXY Lady Drivers, said: "Women are happy to negotiate a big ticket kitchen, bathroom or family holiday transaction on their own. Why should buying a new or used car be any less respectful, female-friendly or enjoyable?"
Last year the motoring club started listing garages and dealerships that agreed never to intentionally patronise, overcharge or sell customers services they do not need.
