Women drivers offered tips on buying at auction
Female motorists who fancy the idea of buying a car at auction have been offered some tips on how to ensure they get the best possible deal.
According to BCA, men and women drivers should resist the urge to make a purchase during their first visit to a sale.
The car auctioneers said first of all people should simply get a feel for the atmosphere.
When motorists feel they are ready to start thinking about making a purchase, BCA urged them to arrive early so they have plenty of time to examine the vehicle they are interested in and ask questions.
Finally, the group said buyers needed to bid clearly.
It stated people should raise their hand or the catalogue rather than winking or tapping their nose.
BCA PR manager Tim Naylor said: "Although prices for used cars have started to rise, there's still plenty of opportunity for buyers to get themselves a great deal whatever their budget."
Last month, the same auction company sold more vans and cars than during any other January.
