It would seem the majority of women regard the housing market as a female friendly place despite the credit crunch, if the findings of some new research are anything to go by.

A survey by Fool.co.uk has revealed 81 per cent of women would consider buying a house in the current economic climate, compared with 30 per cent of men.

Commenting on the findings, David Kuo, head of personal finance at Fool.co.uk said he could understand the reluctance of men to buy at the moment.

He stated nobody wants to risk losing money, especially when they are purchasing something as important as a house.

However, he added trying to predict when the property market would hit rock bottom is "a mug's game".

He advised: "It is more important to decide if the house you want to buy is right for you and if you can comfortably afford to meet the mortgage repayments."
