Women who love Fords now have less-polluting 4x4 available 09 May 08
Women drivers in love with 4x4s but conscious about their carbon footprint have a new option from a car maker developing more low-polluting models.
Ford has unveiled the Kuga compact 4x4, claiming it has the lowest CO2 emissions in its segment and will appeal to drivers looking for style and green credentials.
The firm hope the new car will continue a 2008 trend which has seen it shift more and more low-CO2 emission cars as drivers apparently look to cut petrol costs and protect the environment.
Ford of Britain chairman and managing director Roelant de Waard said: " The Ford Kuga, along with our other low carbon vehicles, delivers style with a green conscience."
Female motorists are helping to contribute to a purple patch for Ford which has so far seen private buyers snap up around 57,700 of the company's models so far this year.
Sales of the company's less-polluting cars in particular have improved with registrations of models pumping out less than 120g of CO2 per kilometre up by 2,798 compared with the same period in 2007.
The Ford Kuga is based on the hugely popular Ford Focus and is set to hit British showrooms in June with a price tag of about £20,495, Autocar reports.
