Your plate or mine?
Female drivers looking to make new friends now have a new service at their disposal, with the launch of a new social networking site.
MYPL8 allows members to write down the registration plate number of a fellow motorist they think they might get on well with.
After making a note of the number, they can then text the driver using the service.
Euan Williamson, the founder of the service, said: "We are staggered by the take-up of MYPL8 and now have clusters of members in almost every corner of the UK."
It was noted that many people have made friends via the service, while others have used it to chat about their motors, especially if they own a more unusual model.
Mr Williamson concluded: "We've even heard cases of members getting their registration numbers printed onto T-shirts so they can be contacted when they're not in their cars."
The site's terms of service state people must not text while driving, as this could result in an accident.
